Will Rick Grimes appear in The Walking Dead: World Beyond Season 2?

If there is one thing The Walking Dead fans want to know is where is Rick Grimes? Some hoped there would be some hint or Easter egg about his whereabouts during The Walking Dead: World Beyond Season 1 finale, but thus far, nothing has been revealed.

The Walking Dead showrunner for seasons 4 through 8, Scott M. Gimple, revealed several months ago in a ComicBook.com interview that Rick Grimes will not appear in World Beyond. FanSided’s Winter Is Coming highlights the interview. However, this isn’t recent news.

Did Gimple change his mind? Was it simply an attempt at misdirection?

According to the interview, Gimple states, “But I feel that one’s important not to be cagey about…I think people could watch this show and learn a lot about the mythology that Rick Grimes is caught up in. And they might even see places where Rick Grimes has been. But yeah, he’s not swinging around the corner.”

Is there a possibility for Rick Grimes to appear during the final season of The Walking Dead: World Beyond?

Yes, we know the Rick Grimes films are underway, but surely his brief appearance, mention, or even voice through a walkie-talkie won’t harm that kind of publicity. If anything, it would make audiences more excited and anxious to know where he has been and what has he been doing all this time?

Perhaps Rick agrees with the actions of the CRM. Perhaps he’s faking it until he can find a way back home.

Even if a Rick Grimes appearance isn’t plausible, a mention of Anne (formerly Jadis from The Walking Dead) would prove to be beneficial. She was the one character who seemed to have a direct connection to the CRM.

Fans never got her whole story about how she was involved with the CRM and why. Especially considering she lived in a large garbage dump, had a community of people who followed her, and faked being unable to speak coherent English.

Not to mention both Father Gabriel and Negan were about to be taken by the CRM via helicopter. Since Season 2 will be the final season of World Beyond, there is a lot that can still be covered.

I, myself, hope that Rick Grimes will somehow be mentioned, heard, or seen. A little hint won’t harm the upcoming films, and at this point, the fans deserve answers.
