American Gods Season 1 2017

The fascinating first season of American Gods is coming to an end this Sunday…

…even though it feels like the season just started. That being said, all good things must come to an end and we have some thoughts about what we want to see go down in the finale.

Here are our predictions for tomorrow’s big finale and how we think this series is going to conclude its first season:

1. The introduction of Easter

We already know that we are going to be meeting the God Easter this season (she was seen in the trailer for this season and, as you can tell, she is seen in a lot of the promotional photos for the finale), but considering Kristin Chenoweth’s Easter has been noticeably absent for the entirety of the season, we hope that the whole episode is going to revolve around this colorful goddess.

What is Easter going to be doing in the finale though? Based on the photos, it looks like Easter’s place is going to be the meet ground for all the old gods to face the new gods in the start of the war between the old gods and the new. We also have a feeling that Easter is going to end up being more powerful than she looks, it can’t be a just a coincidence that Easter’s home is going to be the first battleground and that she’s the last old god we are going to meet this season (you know, save the best for last) so we have some pretty high expectations for the god of the dawn in the finale and we know that Easter will deliver.

2. Mad Sweeney and Laura Moon are going to either split up or stay together.

One of the best pairings of this season so far has been the unlikely duo of Laura Moon and Mad Sweeney. The dead wife and the leprechaun make such an interesting duo because the two seem to really, really hate each other, yet there’s an undeniable spark between the two we really get explored in the finale.

We think the final Laura and Sweeney moments this season can go two ways: the first could be that Sweeney is going to take Laura to get resurrected and she is going to realize that she doesn’t need Shadow in her life anymore (considering he has a lot on his plate right now and doesn’t seem too interested in her) and she is going to stick with Sweeney going into season two as the war breaks out.

That would be the happier ending for the dreamers, the more realistic one is that Laura is going to find out that Wednesday ordered Sweeney to cause the car accident that killed her and their developing relationship is going to drop dead. We are hoping for the later though because we really like this pairing.

3. Tech Boy is going down (at least we hope).

One of the most unlikeable characters we have met this season has to be Tech Boy. This stereotypical archetype of the American millennial has got to go (we don’t even think the other new gods like him very much) and we have a feeling that Easters gathering is where he’s going to meet his demise.

How though? We would love to see Shadow take down Tech Boy as revenge for lynching him way back in the first episode that has seemed to scar him for life, but honestly we can see any of the old gods, the new gods, the creatures, the supernatural, the humans or God himself take down Tech boy.

So please American Gods, give Tech Boy the ending he so desperately deserves. He is way too much like a modern-day Joffery Baratheon for our liking.

4. We are getting Bilquis’ backstory

We have not seen Bilquis in a long time, but based on the trailer for tomorrow’s finale it looks like we are going to be seeing some of her backstory in the finale, based on this photo of her looking very 80’s with that haircut and dancing.

We are curious though of how Bilquis is going to become involved in Wednesday’s war. He has not visited her yet and it seems like the big confrontation is going to take place at Easter’s house so will Bilquis show up to Easter’s on her own or will she not even be involved in this big fight at all?

If Bilquis does get involved in Wednesday’s war, we have a strong feeling that she is going to end up being one of the more powerful gods fighting for the old ways, love does conquer all anyway.

5. All hell is going to break loose as things come together

Based on the trailer for next week, it’s clear that Easter’s Easter celebration is going to go off the rails when the new gods make their appearance. One of the big questions though is what is going to happen when the new gods collide with Easter, Wednesday, Shadow and all the other old gods who show up to Easter’s party?

We think that it’s going to end in death (we already predicted Tech Boy) and we think that somebody is going to meet their fate with the sword Wednesday now has that can kill a god. So who is going to have their internal life cut short? It would be pretty sad if Easter died during her own holiday and she probably is at full power so we have a feeling that she might make it through, Wednesday is almost certain to survive, Mr. World is too important of an antagonist just as Shadow is too important of a protagonist.

Tech Boy has a lot of enemies so he’s pretty high on the list and Media hasn’t been that big of a player so far so we can see her life being cut short in the finale.

6. The secrets of Shadow Moon will be revealed

Even though he’s the main character, we don’t know all that much about Shadow Moon. Some of the big questions we would like to see answered in the finale of American Gods about Shadow are who is Shadow exactly? Why did Wednesday choose Shadow over every other human on the planet to take place in this war? And why is Shadow so darn stubborn to believe that all of this is really happening?

We have a strong feeling that all will be revealed about Shadow, his past, why he was chosen and his destiny in tomorrow’s finale and we have a feeling that Shadow may not just be another human. Considering we learned pretty early on that Shadow’s mother named him Shadow Moon because she was a total hippie, we have a feeling that she had a lot to do with the gods and why Shadow was chosen by Wednesday for this task.
