Preacher Season 2 is premiering on Sunday night, June 25, on AMC and Season 1 left a lot of questions that need answers.

For fans of the Preacher comic books, there is also a lot of the story to be told as the first season of the TV show all took place in Annville, Texas – a town destroyed in the first issue of the comic series. However, the Preacher TV show stretched out Jesse Custer’s relationship with the townspeople to a full 10-episode season and then paid it off at the end of the season with the revelation that God is missing and then the town was blown sky high.

With Annville destroyed, Jesse Custer, the vampire Cassidy, and Tulip will hit the road in search for God and Season 2 should really kick into high gear as a result. Here are 5 things we want to see during Preacher Season 2 as the story rolls on.

There are slight spoilers for the Preacher comic book series and major spoilers from Season 1.

5. The fate of Arseface

Fans of the Preacher comic book series saw lots of changes from the comic books, with alterations to characters like Tulip being very positive alterations. However, one change that came as a shock was the fate of Eugene, also known as Arseface. In the comic books, Arseface was the son of a sheriff who hated him and tried to kill himself to imitate Kurt Cobain. In the comics, Eugene’s dad loves him and Eugene instead shot a girl who refused to date him in the head and then turned the gun on himself. Neither person died, but she remained brain dead and he became Arseface.

It turned Arseface into a bad kid but also one who always visited the Preacher hoping for redemption from his sins. Jesse, in a lapse of judgment, grew angry when Arseface rejected him using the Word to make people forgive him and lashed out, telling him to “Go to Hell.” Eugene went to Hell and now Jesse is haunted by Arseface and has promised to find a way to bring him back. Those hallucinations or visions will play into Jesse’s battle for his own soul.

4. Meeting God

This might or might not happen in Preacher Season 2.

See, God is missing and the fact that he disappeared right after Genesis was born makes it clear that he is on the run and in hiding. Jesse spent the entire first season trying to find his calling and figure out why God gave him Genesis. Now that he knows the truth, he wants to find out why God has run away from his children and is no longer there to watch over his flock.

In the comics, it is someone else that God comes to and it just makes Jesse more determined to find him and make him answer for leaving. It will be interesting to see how this plays out on AMC.

3. Gran’ma

The first season of Preacher also made changes to Jesse and his dad by making his father a preacher. In the comic books, Jesse’s dad was a Vietnam veteran who returned to see people spitting in his face. He reconnected with his girlfriend, who was on the run, and the two brought Jesse into the world. However, Gran’ma, as the name suggests, is someone to answer some serious questions that were only hinted at in the first season – including who killed Jesse’s dad.

She is also one of the evillest people you could ever imagine. If the Preacher TV show portrays her like she is in the comics, it could cause a huge controversy.

2. The Saint of Killers confronting Jesse Custer

As shown on the Preacher Season 1 finale, the Saint of Killers was the cowboy whose story we watched in flashbacks and he ended up in Hell, reliving his worst nightmares over and over again. He is now out of hell, set free by the angel Fiore to kill Jesse.

It is also shown in the season finale that the Saint of Killers has guns that can kill even angels – as he killed two angels in that episode alone. Now, he is after Jesse Custer to kill him and stop Genesis – and that chase plays a huge role in the comics and will likely take center stage during Preacher Season 2 as well.

1. Herr Star

The biggest thing that we want to see in Preacher Season 2 is the arrival – officially – of Herr Starr. He was shown in the shadows in the Season 1 episode “The Possibilities,” where he was in a snuff film theater and received a map that Tulip stole and gave to Herr Starr’s assistant Dany.

Without spoiling too much, Herr Starr is the main villain in the Preacher storyline. While the Saint of Killers is out to kill Jesse Custer to stop Genesis, Herr Starr wants to use Genesis and Jesse for purely evil purposes and he is showing up in Preacher Season 2, portrayed by Pip Torrens.
