Game of Thrones is a show based on death, and each week we give you the Dead Pool odds on the five characters most likely to die.
Here’s a hint: the odds are high. Death came fast, and death came often on Game of Thrones of seasons past, and season 7 doesn’t appear to be any different, as the Seven Kingdoms are once again at war. Daenerys’ arrival in Westeros is likely to kick the body count up a notch as well, as dragons tend to do that.
Each week, we’ll take a look at the five characters most likely to die and give you our best guess as to what the odds are they kick the bucket. Season premieres don’t typically have much death, but season 7 seems to be unique. With only seven episodes as opposed to the regular ten, we are looking at a compressed timetable. That means all bets are off, and we could be in store for a very bloody premiere.
Who exactly is in the most danger? For “Dragonstone” it seems most likely that allies of Daenerys Targaryen would be in the most peril. Her landing in Westeros can’t go off completely unopposed, and that means casualties. Let’s take a look at who isn’t going to see season 8. Or even the second episode of season 7.

5. Meera Reed 25%
But wait you say, Meera Reed has reached the safety of the Wall in this photo. That means she’s safe, how could Meera die once she makes it to the Wall? Ok, to be fair this is one of our off the Wall suggestions (pun intended), but if you think everything has a happy ending on Game of Thrones, you haven’t been paying attention.
First off, yes Meera is probably safe once she reaches the Wall, that’s why her odds of dying are so low. But, why haven’t we seen Meera in any of the trailers? We’ve seen multiple shots of Bran, and know that he makes it to Winterfell sometime during the season. But where is Meera?
The Night King went through an awful lot of trouble last season in an attempt to get Bran Stark; he clearly views Bran as important. Which means the Night King isn’t likely to just let Bran slip through his cold dead fingers, and even more importantly, the Night King knows exactly where Bran is headed. There are only so many ways past the Wall, and with the Night King and his forces could easily cover all of them. Should they attack, Meera would be a likely casualty. Sorry Meera, you almost made it.
4. Yara Greyjoy 30%
This prediction brings us no joy. Despite sacking parts of the North while the Starks were south fighting the Lannisters, we adore Yara Greyjoy. Yara has proven to be every bit the warrior her brother Theon is not, and it’s hard not to root for her to succeed. Unfortunately, Yara’s voyage might be at an end.
After her uncle, Euron, won the Ironborn Kingsmoot, his first order of business was to murder his niece and nephew. Luckily, Balon’s surviving children saw the writing on the wall and booked it for Essos, bringing a large part of the Ironborn fleet with them. Now, if Euron wanted to murder the siblings before they stole Daenerys’ allegiance, Euron surely wants to murder them now.
We’ve seen from the trailers a large battle at sea, and our best guess is that occurs before Dany manages to land on Dragonstone. And since Dany appears unscathed when she lands, we are guessing Euron somehow manages to isolate the Greyjoy siblings en route to Dragonstone. And if that’s true, surely one of them fall victim to crazy uncle Euron. We hope we’re wrong.

3. Ellaria Sand 35%
As season 6 came to a close, Ellaria Sand threw her support, and that of Dorne, behind Daenerys Targaryen. Alongside long time enemy House Tyrell, Dorne should prove to be a formidable opponent for House Lannister. Unfortunately, that may not mean Ellaria Sand survives the conflict.
We aren’t entirely certain, but Ellaria appears to be ruling Dorne at the moment, and that makes her a prime target for House Lannister. Surveying the situation, Cersei might come to believe that cutting off the head of the snake is the fastest way to eliminate one of her enemies. Ellaria seems to be the only uniting voice among the much younger Sand Snakes, and thus a strike removing her could plunge Dorne into chaos, effectively removing them from the war to come.
Of course, that requires a good deal of foresight on the part of Cersei. The Dornish have also proven to be a stubborn enemy in the past, one that even Daenerys’ fore bearer Aegon Targaryen was unable to conquer. Her death would be quite the shock, but it would also mark the second time a surprise death in Dorne kicked off a season. We’re on the fence, and Ellaria is on the hot seat.

2. The Sand Snakes 50%
Ugh, is there anyone who doesn’t hate the Sand Snakes? Whether it’s their idiotic actions or their horrible dialogue, the Sand Snakes are just about the worst thing on Game Of Thrones. But what exactly lands them so high on our list? Quite a few factors actually.
First a disclaimer: part of us has them this high on the list just so we can be rid of them. Now, with our journalistic integrity intact, let’s get to the actual reasons. First and foremost, there are three Sand Snakes: Obara, Tyene, and Nymeria. That means there are three opportunities for one of them to get picked off. More members, better odds that one of them is eliminated.
More importantly, neither Obara, Tyene nor Nymeria have ever shown any inkling of strategy or forethought. It’s just as likely that one of them will attempt to take down Cersei alone as it is for them to go charging headlong at the Lannister forces. They act on emotion, and not logic, and someone will make them pay for that mistake. We can only hope more than one of them pays the ultimate price. Or all of them. We don’t care.

1. Septa Unella 75%
Last we saw Septa Unella, she was chained to a table and a being tortured by the Mountain. Cersei Lannister did not look kindly upon her former captor and made special arrangements for Unella to be captured before the destruction of the Sept of Baelor. That doesn’t strike us a recipe for a long and healthy life.
Look, for all we know, Unella is already dead (as it was not mentioned last season, it would count for this season btw). If she’s not though, we’re guessing Cersei will tire of her fairly quickly. Nothing maintains Cersei’s attention for long, and no matter how much she hates Unella, her death would be given the season 7 premiere the bloodshed it needs.
Considering Cersei has enemies in all directions, some of whom committed far worse crimes against her than Unella (Ellaria Sand for one), we are guessing the dungeons of King’s Landing might begin to get rather crowded. We aren’t sure how much torture we can hand, but our guess is Unella’s time in Westeros has already come to an end…or is rapidly approaching.
