The most recent Walking Dead death came this season when Aaron lost the man that he loves. Viewers met Aaron when he sought out Rick and his band of survivors and invited them back to Alexandria with the intention of bringing them into their society.

While Rick was leary at first, it turned out that the invitation was sincere and Rick became an influential force when it comes to Alexandria and Aaron became a stog ally for the heroes. However, Aaron also had the first openly gay relationship in the series and worked with Eric as scouts for the town.

After Eric almost died, Aaron decides that he wants Eric to retire from scouting to keep the man he loved safe. Eric appeared little in the rest of the season outside of some scenes with Daryl and the townspeople.

Eric never wanted to fight, but soon Aaron convinced him to help. That lead to season eight where they were part of the team attacking a Negan stronghold looking for weapons. It was during this fight that Eric took a gunshot through the gut.

In “Monsters,” Aaron took Eric to a tree to rest away from the battle and said he would help him. However, Eric told Aaron that he had to finish what he started. This is where Eric said that he didn’t want to fight – until he did – and said Aaron had to keep fighting. When Aaron returned after the fight. Eric was dead and lumbering as a walker into the woods.
