Ryan Murphy’s American Crime Story: Assassination of Gianni Versace looks to make a mark following the success of its predecessor.

Almost two years ago, the world was taken aback by the nostalgia-inducing first installment of American Crime Story: The People vs. OJ. Now, we look ahead to the second season of this award-winning drama series that will cover the brutal execution-style murder of fashion designer, Gianni Versace.

Now, the details may be hazy or unknown for those too young or unaware of the crime but this season of American Crime Story hopes to take us back in time. The show will highlight the events that led to the murder of Gianni Versace, a homosexual world-famous fashion designer, on the steps of his home in Miami.

Behind this crime was the serial killer, Andrew Cunanan who went on a killing spree across the country, responsible for the murder of 5 people including Versace.

More from Show Snob

The Assassination of Gianni Versace will highlight the controversial handling of Versace’s untimely death while incorporating the social prejudices held against the gay community during this investigation.

In true Ryan Murphy fashion, it will unapologetically explore the irony of the justice system and explore its repercussions.

How will this installment of American Crime Story fare against its predecessor?

Next: Fargo season 4 likely to return in 2019

Well, we won’t have to wait too long to find out as American Crime Story: The Assassination of Gianni Versace airs tonight, Wednesday, January 17, at 10 PM EST on FX.
