Jessica Jones season 2 is right around the corner after almost three years of waiting.
However, the critically acclaimed Netflix series has high expectations to meet after its excellent first season. While there’s still a lot of mystery surrounding the show, there are plenty of things to hope for in the sophomore run. Whether it’s new characters or wrapping up storylines, Jessica Jones has a lot of questions to answers this season.

Will Simpson started out last season as a generally likable love interest to Trish before quickly spiraling into a drug-enhanced rage. After being defeated by Trish and Jessica, he gets dragged back to Dr. Kozlov’s experiment by an extraction team before anyone can question him.
It would be a shame not to see Wil Traval return as a villain next season, especially because of his connection to IGH. His pills and reference to his other army pals as “my boys,” has led many fans to believe he’s Jessica Jones‘ version of the Daredevil villain, Nuke. Considering the excitement for the popular villain to appear last year, it would be a missed opportunity for the show not to at least tie up his storyline with a definitive ending.

9. Developing IGH
What exactly is IGH up to? The shadow organization wasn’t introduced until the end of season 1, but it left the door open for a larger conspiracy. Jessica Jones is going to have to really develop the corporation as a serious bad guy to avoid the same problems that The Defenders had with “The Hand.” The only information revealed about the group is their ties to super-powered people: they financed Jessica’s medical bills and gave Simpson the combat enhancements.
Hopefully, the series chooses to take the time to establish them as an overarching villain rather than have Jessica take them down quickly in this upcoming season. Since IGH is also linked to Reva’s death and how Luke got his powers, it could also reunite the latter with Jessica in her pursuit to bring the organization down.

8. Ian Soo
When Terry Chen was cast in Jessica Jones, people immediately started guessing who he could be playing. While the recent trailers have made it clear he will be a rival private eye to Jessica, that didn’t stop fans from hoping Ian Soo could eventually appear.
The Marvel universe on Netflix is constantly expanding, and Jessica Jones is no exception. Since it’s unlikely Jessica will be making any new friends, it would make sense to introduce some of Trish’s from the comics. Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. has been building up the inhuman universe since the second season, which means that the introduction of Soo wouldn’t be all that outlandish. He also starts out as a low-level criminal in the comics and would be a good starting level villain that Hellcat could rehabilitate in the series.

7. Hogarth working with Alias Investigations
Jeri spent most of last season in her own storyline involving an affair with her secretary and a brutal divorce. Her moral ambiguity played a big part in keeping viewers wondering which side she would ultimately take. She eventually did sell out Jessica to try and use Kilgrave’s powers for herself, inadvertently leading to the death of her ex-wife, Hope, and the villain’s father.
By the end of the season though, Hogarth seems to be turning over a new leaf by defending Jessica when she’s arrested for the murder of Kilgrave. With an actress as large as Carrie Ann-Moss, it’s a shame to see her working separate from the rest of the gang and it’s time for her to join the main storyline.

6. Kilgrave flashbacks
Yes, David Tennant’s villain was one of the highlights of season one and there’s no denying that fans are eagerly waiting to see him pop up this year. However, bringing him back to life would only diminish Jessica’s growth after defeating him. While Jessica Jones definitely needs to keep him dead, there’s no reason he can’t show up in flashbacks.
The detective is still dealing with a lot of trauma, and it would make sense for her to still experience PTSD flashbacks of her time with him. Any chance for Tennant to be his charming but evil self is a welcome opportunity, even if it should be kept for nightmares and flashbacks rather than being brought back to life. Of course, the trailer hinted that IGH brought Jessica back to life so there’s always the possibility that they will resurrect Kilgrave to do some damage.

5. Jessica Jones’ detective skills
There were quite a few complaints during the first season that Jessica Jones never showcased just how talented of a detective the titular character was. The Defenders had her jump into some more investigative work, including her immediate deduction of Matt Murdock’s alter ego, and it would be nice to see those abilities carried over into her own series.
Now that Kilgrave is physically out of the picture and there’s a rival agency trying to take Alias Investigations, Jessica will have to prove that she’s better than the competition. IGH is an organization which has managed to live in the shadows for years, Jessica is going to have to bust out some serious detective skills if she plans to even find any information about them.

4. Typhoid Mary
Leah Gibson’s new character, “Ingrid”, has been heavily rumored to be notorious Daredevil villain, Typhoid Mary. It’s hard not to get excited at the prospect since Mary is a character with mental illness, something the show has tried hard to represent. She’s a tragic villain, someone who suffers from dissociative identity disorder that manifested after an attack.
Mary has three different personalities: two which are violent and one that is a pacifist. Knowing that Mary is genuinely struggling with her illness, it would be interesting to see Jessica Jones face off against someone who is consumed by their own disorder. There’s no doubt that Jessica, who is coping with PTSD, will want to save someone she knows isn’t evil by choice.

3. Young Jessica/Trish moments
The relationship between sisters started out in adolescence but viewers didn’t get to see much of the teenagers bonding. Elizabeth Cappucino and Catherine Blades were both enjoyable playing younger versions of the two main characters, so it would be nice to see both of them return. The relationship between the sisters was one of the highlights of season one and it would be a shame not to continue exploring it.
How did Jessica help Trish get clean? When did Trish finally break free of her mother? There are plenty of questions left unanswered that would make for some compelling flashbacks. If Trish is starting her path to becoming her own hero, then the series will have to look back at what events in her childhood led her to want to help others over being a famous actress.

2. Hellcat
Set photos and the trailer have already shown that Trish will begin her destiny of becoming Hellcat this season of Jessica Jones. One of Marvel’s oldest characters, it’s exciting to know that Trish will be using her Krav Maga training to finally beat up some bad guys. She’s tired of being pushed around by the people in her life and having Jessica Jones defend her.
After defeating her boyfriend, Simpson, in hand-to-hand combat and helping her sister take down Kilgrave, she should be able to take down some thugs easily. With Jessica heading straight into a fight with IGH, season 2 won’t be complete with Trish fighting alongside her. Also, it would be amazing to see Trish try to show off a skin-tight yellow catsuit to her sister and have Jessica throw it out immediately.

1. Daredevil
This seems like a long shot since none of The Defenders actually know that Matt Murdock is still alive. However, the relationship between Jessica and Matt was the best thing about the mini-series due to the undeniable chemistry between the two. Their friendship was a big surprise considering Luke and Danny have headlined comic book lines together.
Of course, the two of them dating is out of the question but Jessica Jones really needs all the friends she can get. It would make sense he would be one of the first people she’d call for help from on their superhero team. Matt currently being dead makes that a little difficult, but still, season 2 could have Jessica doing a bit of investigation about his whereabouts since his body was never found.
