A Series of Unfortunate Events will end after season three–and it’s for a good reason

In a world where reboots and remakes are taking over the world of television, Neil Patrick Harris talked to Digital Spy about why A Series of Unfortunate Events will end after its third season.

"“From the beginning, we wanted to honor the encyclopedic and brilliant work of Lemony Snicket author Daniel Handler – we had no real intention of it doing spin-offs or offshoots. It ends so operatically, and yet the ending is so heartfelt, and so grown-up. I don’t know where else anyone would want to go with it.”"

Season two is officially streaming on Netflix and will continue the story of the poor, tormented Baudelaire orphans who are targeted by the notorious Count Olaf.

Being very attached to the series, Harris stated that every show needs to know when to end because it gives everyone something to work towards.

This statement carries a lot of truth to it because by extending and repeating storylines, it loses the beauty and value of the story being told. While A Series of Unfortunate Events is a sad tale of kids on the run from an evil villain, it also sheds light on a family’s bond to get through everything together–despite the circumstances.

When the series comes to a close, we hope that things wrap up on a better note for the characters. Or Count Olaf turns a new leaf — highly unlikely, right?

A Series of Unfortunate Events is based on the book series by Daniel Handler, who goes by the alias Lemony Snicket. The final novel in the series, The End, leaves many unanswered questions which leave us to wonder how the series will end on Netflix since there will be no more seasons/spin-offs?

With just one more season left, fans ought to buckle up because the ride to the finale will be an unfortunate one, pun intended.

Season two of  A Series of Unfortunate Events is now streaming on Netflix!
