Over the weekend, Netflix hosted their FYSee event which included a panel for their hit show Stranger Things.

Millie Bobby Brown, alongside her co-star Noah Schnapp (Will Byers) and Stranger Things producer and director Shawn Levy shared some details for the show’s upcoming third season.

While the panel understandably didn’t go into specifics because of spoilers, Brown nonetheless went into a little detail about what to expect from Eleven in season 3.  She referred to Eleven’s upcoming story arc as “coming of age” story.

More from Netflix

"“It’s really a coming of age for her and understanding what being a normal teenage girl is.”"

Under normal circumstances, child and teenage characters going through a coming of age story would be par for the course.  In the case of Eleven though there’s definitely some potential for it to different and more importantly interesting.

Throughout the majority of the first two seasons, Eleven has been on the run, abused and experimented on before Hopper was finally able to take her in.  So the idea that after all of that, Eleven might be able to live something resembling a normal life is intriguing.

Levy has already previously established that Eleven and Mike would officially be a couple, so expect that to play a large role in season 3.

Of course, given what’s she gone through in the show so far, there’s also likely to be some PTSD elements involved with her character as well.
