Netflix has rounded out the cast for its upcoming high school apocalypse dramedy series, Daybreak, starring Colin Ford and Sophie Simnett.

Daybreak is Netflix’s next project and will have an apocalyptic vibe to it mixed in with the drama of high school. Matthew Broderick (Ferris Bueller’s Day Off) is joined by the following cast members according to a report by Deadline:

"Colin Ford (Captain Marvel), Alyvia Alyn Lind (Young and the Restless), Sophie Simnett (Poldark), Austin Crute (Atlanta), Gregory Kasyan (The Brave), Krysta Rodriguez (Trial & Error), Cody Kearsley (Riverdale) and Jeante Godlock (The Simone Biles Story: Courage to Soar)."

The series is created by Aron Eli Coleite (Hellboy) and Brad Peyton (San Andreas) and based on the graphic novel by Brian Ralph. Within the 10-episode Netflix series, Daybreak will follow a 17-year old character named Josh (Ford) who is an outcast and searching for his missing girlfriend, Sam (Simnett), in a post-apocalyptic world set in Glendale, California.

The character of Josh will be joined a group of interesting characters including a pyromaniac named Angelica (Lind) and his former high school bully turned pacificist samurai Wesley (Crute). The challenge will be to survive amidst the circumstances as he faces interesting, frightening groups along the way including zombies, warriors, jocks, and cheerleaders.

Ford’s character, Josh, has to learn to deal with the changes that come in a post-apocalyptic world, and while others may be panicking, he’s on the top of the world. He now has the ability to be the hero he’s always dreamed of being while trying to find his damsel in distress.

Angelica, played by Lind, will be discovered by Josh after he mistakes her for Sam while Sam is played by Simnett, and is a happy-go-lucky character that Josh falls in love with at first sight.

By the sound of the cast and storyline, Daybreak promises to be an exciting and thrilling perspective into the end of the world, and be seen through the eyes of teenagers who may find this world suits them better than the one they knew.
