Avengers: Endgame has been released and to honor the end of an era, we list some Marvel Cinematic Universe characters we’d like to see in Disney Plus shows.

*Spoiler Alert: The following post contains mild spoilers for Marvel’s Avengers: Endgame. Proceed with caution.

Disney Plus is gearing up to give Marvel Cinematic Universe fans plenty of new, original content featuring some of their favorite characters. We already have confirmations on WandaVision, Loki, and Falcon and the Winter Soldier shows, with a possible Hawkeye series also in the pipeline. Additionally, the animated What If series will give us alternate histories of the MCU. All of these series and more will be debuting on the exclusive streaming platform sometime after the service goes live in the US this November.

Now that Avengers: Endgame has been released, we have witnessed the end of an era. But we are not ready to give up on so many of our favorite superhero characters yet. Since Disney is on a roll, we at Show Snob have some additional suggestions for more MCU content for the streaming service.

Here are five characters we would like to see get their own shows on Disney Plus.

MARVEL’S AGENT CARTER – “Pilot” – It’s 1946 and peace has dealt Agent Peggy Carter (Hayley Atwell), a serious blow as she finds herself marginalized when the men return home from fighting abroad. Working for the covert SSR (Strategic Scientific Reserve), Peggy finds herself stuck doing administrative work when she would rather be back out in the field, putting her vast skills into play and taking down the bad guys. But she is also trying to navigate life as a single woman in America, in the wake of losing the love of her life, Steve Rogers – aka Captain America.…

5. Peggy Carter

I know. Peggy already got her show, but then ABC canceled it after only two seasons. Hayley Atwell’s Peggy was a surprisingly rounded character given her limited screen time in Captain America: The First Avenger and stole people’s hearts as a fierce soldier with a heart of gold.

A limited series with Peggy could focus on how she helped establish SHIELD, working alongside Howard Stark, Hank Pym, and Janet Van Dyne. Marvel hasn’t treated its female characters (supporting or otherwise) very well over the years, and a show about Peggy could also shine a light on the many gender issues that she faced back in the 1960s and 1970s. After all, most of those issues are unfortunately still relevant today.

4. Luis, Dave, and Kurt

More from Show Snob

Our favorite trio of bumbling side-kicks deserves more than the Ant-Man films can give them. Michael Peña, TI Harris, and David Dastmalchian provide great support to Paul Rudd’s Scott Lang, but a show starring these three could be analogous to the X-Files’ The Lone Gunmen. Sometimes, you just need a good laugh and if there’s one thing we know about Luis and team, it’s that they are ready to deliver plenty of guffaws.

Superhero-adjacent media can be extraordinarily fun but never gets as much traction because they are usually unknown properties. That’s a problem Luis et al would never face. Imagine kicking off each episode with a Luis-esque recap which plays over footage of characters doing the most mundane tasks.

3. Nakia, the Spymaster

There are a fair few people who will admit that their favorite character from Black Panther was Lupita Nyong’o’s Nakia. In popular media, it is still hard to come across a female character who has much depth beyond being a ‘love interest’, but Nakia broke the mold. She is smart, powerful, and most importantly, kind.

As a spy, Nakia helps save trafficked women and free unwilling soldiers. A show about Nakia’s skills as a spy could be a hard-hitting look at the impact of trafficking and warfare on the average person. Throw in some globe-trotting glitz and glamour, like the casino scene in Seoul, and Disney has a winning formula for this series.

2. The Valkyrie

The Valkyrie are an intrinsic part of Norse mythology and the Thor comics. It took till the final Thor film, Thor: Ragnarok, to introduce them to the MCU, another reminder that Disney and Marvel have a serious problem with diversity in their on-screen properties.

Through Tessa Thompson’s Valkyrie, we got a glimpse of the formidable army who were once Asgard’s front line. If it wasn’t for Hela, the Valkyrie would still be fighting for Asgard. So, what were they like? Everyone likes military stories, and one featuring a team of women would be refreshing. Plus, Thompson has said that her character is definitely bisexual, so a show about the Valkyrie could have some much-needed queer representation. Marvel has been dragging its feet with regards to LGBTQ+ representation for long enough.

1. Okoye and the Dora Milaje

Danai Gurira’s Okoye captured fans’ imaginations from the moment she stepped on screen. As the leader of the Dora Milaje, Okoye is fiercely loyal to Wakanda but is equal parts irreverent and respectful of her king, T’Challa. Though Black Panther is likely to return for more films, it’s unlikely the Dora Milaje will get as much screen time as they deserve. Considering how many ‘band of brothers’ shows we’ve had, we could do with a sorority of sisters for a change.

A limited series could feature more characters from this army of women, and perhaps even focus on the ground-breaking relationship between Florence Kasumba’s Ayo and the comic book character Aneka. We could all do with an action-packed series that has a central lesbian relationship.

Which Disney Plus shows are you looking forward to the most? And which characters do you want to see next in a Disney Plus series? Let us know in the comments.
