Sorry guys, The Romanoffs and Too Old To Die Young will not be getting a second season at Amazon–at least not for now.

The Romanoffs and Too Old To Die Young are two shows that Amazon will not be renewing for a second season according to a report released by Deadline. This announcement was made during Amazon’s TCA panel, and I’ll be the first to admit, I’m so sad to hear about The Romanoffs.

Created by Mad Men’s Matthew Weiner, The Romanoffs is an anthology series about people who believe they are descendants of the infamous royal Russian family.

While I thoroughly enjoyed most of the first season, it seems like the show may not have done well enough to elicit another season. I’m not completely shocked either because each episode was around 2 hours long, so not that many people are going to invest so much time on a series unless it’s really good.

I thought the connection back to the Romanov family was a unique one and the fact that each episode was so different from the others made it even more fun to watch.

Along with The Romanoffs, Amazon also stated that they do not have plans for Too Old To Die Young starring Miles Teller as a no-good cop.

Based on the Deadline article, it seems like Too Old To Die Young was heavily marketed in the European market and wasn’t as promoted in the U.S. market which could be another reason why it didn’t garner as much attention.

We also have to consider that Amazon is spending the big bucks for their Lord of the Rings show which means that they could use any additional budget they can gather. They may not need it or be relying on it, but I’m sure it doesn’t hurt either way.

If you’ve watched an episode of The Romanoffs then you know that each episode took place abroad and looked extremely expensive. So, I guess I get it, even though I’m bummed about no season 2.

What do you think? Are you sad to see The Romanoffs and Too Old To Die Young end? Let us know in the comments.
