4. High School Musical: The Musical: The Series
High School Musical: The Musical: The Series takes place in the actual set location from where the original movie High School Musical filmed. New drama teacher Miss Jenn, played by Kate Reinders, is shocked that they have never done the play High School Musical at this school and sets out to do just that.
The series follows the students and their journey through casting, rehearsing, and to their performance. Just like every musical theater junkie knows, the drama is not just for the stage. Throughout the series, we find out about the casts’ personal lives, and some of the high school love triangles (or squares) that develop.
Season 1 of High School Musical: The Musical: The Series is ready to be watched on Disney Plus!
3. Glee
Glee is a TV show that ran from 2009 to 2015 and followed the life of the students at McKinley High School. The show primarily focused on the Glee Club, led by theater lover Rachel Berry (Lea Michele). Will Schuester, played by Matthew Morrison, is the teacher in charge of the Glee Club, but somehow Rachel always seems to run the show.
Together the Glee Club deals with the ins and outs of high school by singing through their problems. It is one of the most well-known musical TV shows out there. Along the way, they gather club members from the football team and the cheerleading team while covering a variety of songs from pop, to country, to Broadway show tunes. Glee has something for every musical theater fan.
You can currently watch all 6 seasons of Glee on Netflix. We know we will!
