Best Daphne and Simon moment: The two meet for the first time

Love can be a complicated thing, especially when one’s future depended on it. For Simon, he had no interest in getting married upon his return to London.

Yet when word reached the ears of every eligible woman that he was available, his plans were becoming less successful. Daphne on the other hand had been preparing her whole life to get married.

Unfortunately, her oldest brother Anthony made it nearly impossible for her to meet anyone. That is except Nigel Berbrooke.

When Daphne is able to get away from Anthony for a brief moment she happens to run into Nigel. Uninterested Daphne tries to leave but Nigel pursues her until she bumps into Simon.

In a panic, she forces a conversation with Simon who believes she purposely wanted to find an excuse to meet him. Before their conversation can proceed Anthony arrives as it is revealed he and Simon are dear old friends.

While their first meeting is short it is obvious that the two are immediately intrigued by the other.

Best Daphne and Simon moment: The perfect plan

Daphne’s prospects of finding a husband begin to dwindle, except for Nigel. Meanwhile, Simon’s desire to avoid marriage becomes increasingly impossible.

Daphne fears that her brother has scared away all of the eligible men, and to make matters worse, Nigel could become her potential husband. As she scurries away from a party, Nigel follows unbeknownst to them both that Simon isn’t far away.

When Nigel attempts to attack Daphne, she knocks him out with one punch before Simon can rescue her. The two share their present issues when Simon comes up with a plan that could solve their problems.

By pretending they are in love, it would scare away the women who heckle Simon while drawing men towards Daphne. The women would see that he is officially unavailable, while the men will find Daphne more desirable than ever and attempt to win her heart.

Best Daphne and Simon moment: I Burn for You

Daphne and Simon’s fake relationship was slowly becoming more real; however, neither of them felt brave enough to reveal how they felt about one another. After a series of events that leads to Simon and Daphne getting married, they both mistakenly believe they didn’t want to marry each other.

On their wedding night, they stop on their way to the Hastings estate, with prepared separate rooms. As this is their wedding night, Daphne feels saddened that she will not be spending it as newlyweds do.

When she decides to go to Simon’s room, he is already at her door, seeking to speak with her. Feeling all of their emotions boiling over, they both confess that they indeed love each other, leading to the heartwarming line, “I burn for you.”

Best Daphne and Simon moment: Forgiveness

Daphne and Simon’s marriage began strong, with the two barely spending a moment away from each other. However, all of it came to a halt when Daphne learned that Simon did not want to have children instead of being unable to.

After their spat, the two begin to ignore the other while trying to appear like a happily wedded couple in front of others; as their anger and grief towards each other grew, the idea of a happily ever after seemed near nonexistent.

That is until they both finally talk about their feelings in the rain and how they do not wish their marriage to end. They admit that they still love each other and want to fight for their marriage.

This moment of forgiveness to each other leads to a night of passion and results in their son’s birth several months later.

Best Daphne and Simon moment: The future of the Hastings line

Throughout the season, it was apparent that Daphne and Simon truly loved each other. What started as simple glances became a friendship and, soon after, an undying love.

Even though Simon battled with the vow he made to his cruel dying father, in the end, he and Daphne come to terms with the fact that their love mattered more. As Simon was once determined to end the Hastings line with himself, he was now beholding the next generation.

At the end of Season 1, Daphne gives birth to a son. Quite frankly, how else could you end the first season than with a love so powerful and a promising outlook of a happily ever after?
