The Hound’s vision was different in the original Game of Thrones “Dragonstone” script

HBO has begun dropping recaps of the Game of Thrones season 7 premiere, and The Hound’s vision holds more secrets than originally thought.

There were so many fantastic scenes from the Game of Thrones season 7 premiere, “Dragonstone,” that it is hard to choose our favorite. However, if we had to choose one, Rory McCann’s scenes as The Hound were absolutely fantastic and it can be said that he stole the show.

Part of The Hound’s show stealing moments from “Dragonstone” included a vision in the flames of the Night King and his army on the move, toward the Wall. Here’s how it played out on screen:

"Ice…a wall of ice. The Wall. It’s where the Wall meets…the sea. There’s a castle there. There’s a mountain. Looks like an arrowhead. The dead are marching past. Thousands of them."

While certainly ominous, the scene is missing one line from the original script, and thanks to HBO’s Whispers of Westeros, we now know what it is.

"It’s where the Wall meets the sea. The waves are frozen...there’s a castle there."

Why would the original script make note of the frozen waves? Is this how the Night King gets his army past the Wall? Eastwatch-by-the-Sea is the last castle on the Wall, and it literally meets the sea. If the Night King uses the weather to freeze the sea, then he’ll be able to go around the Wall, instead of trying to topple it.

In other news, HBO released a prop from the season 7 premiere, via its Making Game of Thrones blog.

That is the summons Cersei sent to Winterfell, calling Jon Snow to come and bend his knee to her. I like how Cersei thinks calling Jon a bastard will make him mad enough to fall into her obvious trap. Maybe she should ask Ramsay how that turned out for him.
