True Detective season two will have multiple directors

Just about everyone who watched the first season of True Detective is sitting on the edge of their seat waiting for more action to unfold. While we are roughly ten months out from a new season starting, that hasn’t stopped folks from speculating what’s in store for the new season.

Series creator Nic Pizzolatto recently gave an interview to BuzzFeed that dove into some of what we can expect for the next season, but not everything he talked about revolved around casting or potential plotting. One aspect of the new season Pizzolatto mentioned was technical and that there will be more than one director for season two.

Per BuzzFeed:

"We don’t have any plans to work with one director again. It would be impossible to do this yearly as we need to be able to do post while we’re still filming, like any other show. There’s some great guys I’ve consulted, and we’re all confident we can achieve the same consistency."

Only one director carried the first season of the show, but traditionally shows have multiple directors throughout a season. This is both a blessing and a curse as with one director you’re basically shooting a lengthy feature film where multiple directors bring multiple points of view.

The new format should only help improve the new season of the show and fans can’t wait for it to premiere this upcoming year.
