True Detective Season 2: Could Jon Hamm play lead role?
By Josh Hill
With True Detective nearing that point in time in which casting is going to need to happen, we are all still wondering who will play the lead roles in the show and which famous faces we can expect to see featured in the cast. The fan wish lists vary from person to person, but one name that isn’t on too many lists but probably should be is Jon Hamm.
It seems far fetched with him being knee deep in the final season of AMC’s Mad Men, but with that show ending it could free Hamm up for a role on the show.
Fans are pulling for female detectives to be the leads in Season 2, but that doesn’t mean we can’t have famous faces in the cast. Season one was full of characters where we went ‘oh hey, it’s that guy‘ and that opens up the possibility for those roles to be filled by notable faces.
Hamm may command a leading role, but it would be cool to see him take on a secondary role after playing the lead on Mad Men. It may even be cool to see him as the villain of the series or a villainous entity that is working against the plot. He’s just depressing and soulless on Mad Men and not outwardly evil. It could be interesting to see him embrace that role or really any role on the show.
It’s a bit of a pipe dream, but nothing is out of the question until the official cast has been announced.
