True Detective Pairings: Emily Blunt and Greta Gerwig
By Josh Hill
This upcoming season of True Detective is yet to be cast but already there has been a lot of speculation as to who will fit into the lead roles when that time comes. Recently we learned that the new season will feature three lead characters and a story set in California, which opens up a lot of possibilities for casting.
Fans are clamoring for female lead characters and there is a slew of great actresses out there who could fill the roles with their own style — or styles we haven’t yet seen them express. When thinking of two great actresses to pair, one great pairing could be Emily Blunt and Greta Gerwig.
Gerwig just missed an Oscar nomination for Frances Ha this past year and was then cast in How I Met Your Dad at CBS before the series was dropped before a pilot could air. This means that she’s pretty much free at the moment and would be great as one of the lead detectives in the show.
Her partner could then be the very excellent and still criminally underrated Emily Blunt. She’s a name that you know you’ve heard places but can match a face to it, even though that face happens to be one of the most gorgeous in all of Hollywood. She’s most recently starring in the Tom Cruise blockbuster Edge of Tomorrow which could be her big budget break but won’t be a critical break she deserves.
That could end up being True Detective as Blunt has established a career where her range is all over the map meaning she can no doubt pull off the seriousness of True Detective.
