  • Unlike last season where one director carried the show the whole way through, True Detective is going to be rolling with multiple directors in this new season. This begs the question of whether or not True Detective should chase big name directors to tag team direct the season and give the show extra flavor.

If the show can cast A-list stars in the lead roles, why not approach some of the A-list directors working in Hollywood today and ask them if they want to help direct episodes. The series already has a cinematic feel to it and adding in some of the best film directors of today would only further the quality of the show.

Imagine what a True Detective episode would look like if it were directed by David Fincher, David O. Russell or David Lynch. After all, HBO already has a long standing relationship with Martin Scorsese and Quentin Tarantino directed an episode CSI back in the early 2000s.

It may seem like a crazy idea, but so was casting Matthew McConaughey in the lead role of the first season — and look how that turned out. It’d be a brilliant move for True Detective as they need to stay ahead of the game and in it’s sharpest form, and who better to turn to than the best directors  in Hollywood?
