Could Rust and Marty Return in Season Three to End Series?

We all know how amazing the first season of True Detective was and that had everything to do with the extraordinary acting of Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson. This has everyone wanting to duo to return at some point and that’s something that has gone from being something completely out of the question to something that may end up happening.

  • It was McConaughey who first softened his stance on not returning to the series and now Harrelson has also softened his stance on not doing another season of the series or reprising his role as Marty. This now has fans wondering if and how the duo could return to the roles they fit so well in and it could be that they return for a third and final season.

Their roles are pretty much wrapped up, but the first season left the door open just a crack for possibly more story between Rust and Marty and what better way to end the series in season three than by returning — if only partially — to the first season.

It’s a stretch and it might seem tacky, but if Nic Pizzolatto is really set on ending the series after three seasons then fans might like to go back to the two characters that made the show what it is now.
