Each Saturday, HBO airs a movie premier and gears up for original programming on Sunday. That’s why every Thursday or Friday, HBO Binge will keep you posted on what to expect to see on any given weekend. Here’s what’s coming up for the weekend of 8/29 and 8/30 2015.

Saturday at 8 p.m. eastern marks the premier of the drama Kill The Messenger starring Jeremy Renner. HBO’s description follows:

Jeremy Renner gives a powerful performance in this riveting, fact-based thriller chronicling Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist Gary Webb’s investigation of the CIA’s use of cocaine profits to secretly fund Nicaraguan Contra rebels in the 1980s. Co-starring Rosemarie De Witt, Ray Liotta, Tim Blake Nelson, Barry Pepper, Oliver Platt, Michael Sheen, Michael Kenneth Williams, Mary Elizabeth Winstead and Andy Garcia. Directed by Michael Cuesta; written by Peter Landesman, based on the books “Dark Alliance” by Gary Webb, and “Kill the Messenger” by Nick Schou. (R)

Kill The Messenger is a bit of a letdown after seeing back-to-back weeks of high profile comedies and award winners. Jim Carrey’s Dumb and Dumber To premiered last week, and Reese Witherspoon’s Oscar nominated Wild premiered the week prior.

Then on Sunday, part five and six of the HBO original Show Me a Hero premiers. That’s it for original programming since Last Week Tonight with John Oliver is on a two-week break. Plus, we’re in a down period while we wait for the next season of shows, including the second season of The Leftovers. So all in all, not much to see on HBO this weekend. Enjoy your Sunday off!
