Westworld Star Evan Rachel Wood Hints at Big Things for Dolores in Episode 5

And it’s not just that she’ll get to wear pants instead of that blue dress.
Dolores Abernathy is special. That’s an idea we were exposed to right from the start of Westworld, as we learned that she’s the oldest host still regularly working in the park, as well as one that has caught Bernard Lowe’s eye.
Thanks in part to some assistance from Bernard, Dolores is just about ready to bust out. She’s already managed to break free from her original loop, and this week’s episode 5, “Contrapasso,” should be another huge step forward in her awakening.
That’s not just us guessing that either. Evan Rachel Wood, who plays Dolores, said as much in a recent interview with Variety.
"“We’ve established that the further out you go, the more intense the game gets. In five, we go to a little place called Pariah. I describe it as the Vegas of Westworld, and in a place that’s already lawless, without consequences, you can only imagine what that would be like. Also with Dolores, we’re going to see more sides to her and we’re peeling back the layers more and more. She’s making leaps and bounds and really going against her programming and we’re noticing something coming out of her that we really haven’t seen yet.”"
Wood also confirmed that Dolores simply whispering the phrase about how “these violent delights have violent ends” to other hosts can help them do some waking up of their own. We’ve seen this with Maeve Millay, but it’s possible she’ll be testing it out on other hosts before too long.
"The only thing I think we’ve established at that point, and what I believe, is that once that phrase is said to a host, something unlocks in them. They work off of voice commands, and I think that sentence in particular really means something, because everyone starts malfunctioning when they hear it. But how she connects to that thing and where she’s coming from, I don’t think we understand quite yet."
What will be most interesting to see is if Dolores is able to stand up for herself with Logan. He’s been bugging his friend (or perhaps brother-in-law) William to take a turn to the dark side, mentioning that Dolores wouldn’t care if he did. From what we’ve seen, that assumption is likely false.

If you’ve been hooked by Westworld so far, you don’t need any urging to keep watching, but if you’re especially curious about Dolores’ journey, you won’t want to miss “Contrapasso” this Sunday. Fair warning.
