32. When We First Meet Eric Northman

Bill brings Sookie to Fangtasia to find information about a “case” she’s helping with. Fangtasia, Sookie says, is what she’d “imagine a vampire bar would look like if it was a ride at Disney World.” Fangtasia is a capitalist’s dream, with a complete selection of merchandise that just so happened to be available to the show’s fans, making it cross promotion at its best. Sookie says all people are thinking about there is “sex, sex, sex.” Bill laughs that it doesn’t take a telepath to figure that out.

We don’t see Eric at first because Bill takes Sookie straight to the bar. It’s early in her relationship with Bill, and she’s dressed in a cute summer dress in the middle of black leather and vinyl, making her stand out even more than she already does. As she sips her gin and tonic, she spots a human man approaching the stage, upon which Eric Northman is sitting on his throne. Sookie asks Bill who he is, and Bill replies he’s the oldest thing in the room. He rolls his eyes at the look on her face, because Eric has that effect on everyone.

Sookie may not realize it at that moment, but this is not the last time she’ll see Eric Northman.
