17. Lafayette and Jesus Go on a Trip
Jesus loves Lafayette for who he is, but he also sees a lot more in Lafayette than Lafayette ever realized about himself. Jesus thinks Lafayette is a shaman, or a brujo, and he suggests that they take some V to really experience the full extent of Lafayette’s powers. The result is a mind bending psychedelic love fest between the duo, taking them through Lala’s house and into mysterious places with people who speak to them with Jesus’ voice.
Lafayette is very sweet and loving and loyal to the people he loves, but he’s also street smart and strong. However, his relationship with Jesus takes Lafayette to a different level. This little drug fest allows Lafayette to experience something beyond the psychedelic drugs he’s used to taking. This trip opens Lafayette’s mind. Eventually we get to see Lala’s brujo mask, which is a truly terrifying thing.
Lafayette is very powerful, and before long his powers get the best of him. In the meantime, though, it’s fun watching Lala and Jesus talk to Lafayette’s altar figurines. Who knew the Virgin Mary could dance like that?
