6. Maryann Throws a Swinging Party

Maryann’s arrival at the end of the first season signals a huge sign of what’s to come in season 2. Maryann is a Maenad who feeds on emotions to gain strength. She arrived in Bon Temps and lived quietly while she made her plan. First she recruited Tara and a man named Eggs.

Like everyone else who arrives in Bon Temps, Maryann is attracted to Sookie’s energy, and she attacks her one night and leaves her for dead. Bill rescues her by getting her to Eric, who calls upon Dr. Ludwig to remove the Maenad poison. It’s a painful process, but Sookie makes it. Seeing Sookie whole again only makes Maryann more insistent.

She fed off their energy while she plotted to kidnap Sam and offeedr him as a sacrifice during a massive orgy. The entire town came out for the orgy, and they lost all of their inhibitions as they engaged in every conceivable sexual act. Ultimately, Maryann was destroyed, and the good people of Bon Temps returned to normal.
