5. Russell Delivers the News

Russell kills an anchorman on live television to interrupt a story about the American Vampire League’s Vampire Rights Act. He puts his fist through the man’s chest and yanks out his spinal cord, then he sits down to address the camera. He says that vampires do share common traits with humans, and they care about things like global warming and endless wars. But what he’s really trying to do is figure out why vampires trying to gain “equal” rights when humans are nowhere near equal to vampires.

Why, then, should humans care about the Vampire Rights Act when humans should really be afraid of their vampire familiars? Vampires are more powerful, and they will eat their children without a second thought.

Nan Flanagan watches Russell’s broadcast with wide eyes. This is going to take a lot of work to clean up. As Russell finishes, he turns to the camera: “Now it’s time for the weather. Tiffany?”
