2. The Authority and Nan Flanagan’s Demise

Everything that happens in the world of vampires is presided upon by the Authority and the American Vampire League (AVL). Even the goings-on of the Kings and Queens are monitored by the Authority for compliance. Eric often pushes the limits of the AVL with Fangtasia, and Nan Flanagan, the AVL spokeswoman, is called in to bring Eric to heel.

When Bill becomes King of Louisiana, Nan continues to make her presence known. He pushes to kill Marnie, the witch who cursed Eric and Pam, but the AVL don’t support his actions. Marnie ends up ruining an AVL event and causing trouble for the AVL, so the AVL decides to kill Nan for letting it happen. Knowing she will die otherwise, Nan tries to join forces with Bill and Eric, but neither one wants her support. They gleefully kill her, making a huge mess all over Bill’s office. In an amusing twist on their relationship, Bill takes a phone call while Eric speeds around the room to clean up the mess and hide the evidence.
