Curb Your Enthusiasm Season 9 Filming is Underway

Get ready for a Larry David-less return of Curb Your Enthusiasm! Just kidding. Hopefully …

Maybe HBO should just rename Curb Your Enthusiasm to The Leon Black Show. The network might not have a choice, given the fact that Larry David doesn’t seem to be all too thrilled with shooting the upcoming ninth season of his hit comedy.

We kid, of course, spurred on by the video HBO released today on its Twitter feed. As you can see below, J.B. Smoove, who plays Leon, is pumped for filming to start and wants Larry to share in his joy.

It doesn’t quite work.

He’s right about one thing though: People are psyched for Curb Your Enthusiasm to return after a hiatus of five years — six once it actually hits HBO next year. Smoove’s Leon, who appeared in 16 episodes of the series but was a fixture during seasons 6-8, is definitely back in the fold.

Most of the rest of the cast is expected back as well, even the likes of Mary Steenburgen and Ted Danson. As HBO is wont to do, it’s keeping the exact return date for Curb a secret for the time being, but the fact that it’s begun filming means a mid-2017 appearance wouldn’t be out of the question.

We’ll keep you posted on that, as well as whether or not Larry ends up a little more … well, enthusiastic about the show’s big comeback. We wouldn’t hold our breath!
