Let’s Talk About Walker Sasha
Okay, we need to talk about the biggest moment of the night. If it wasn’t the biggest moment, it was certainly the most unexpected, not only of this episode or season, but of the entire show.
Walker Sasha.
The entire episode looked like it was going to be in the same vein as the Tyreese death episode where we spent the whole time singing his swan song. That wasn’t the case though, even if we did get a lot of character filler on Sasha as seems to be the case for people about to be killed off on the show. We’ve come to learn over the years that if a character suddenly gets a cont of context or background, things are likely about to end very badly.
That was the case for Sasha but she went out on the most badass terms possible. While being transported back to Alexandria in a coffin, for the theatrical effect of Negan revealing her to Rick, she takes the poison pill. This then pays off the cyanide pill that Eugene gave her the episode prior. What this really sets up is when Negan reveals her to Rick, she is already a walker and attacks him in an attempt to finally kill him.
She fails, but it gives Rick’s group a chance to begin their assault even though their hands were tied. She went out on her own terms and it was one of the best send offs we’ve ever seen on the show.
