Negan had been a character long awaited by fans of The Walking Dead comics, and his reveal was slowly teased during season 5 before that big moment we will all never forget. (RIP Glenn. RIP Abraham.) And while the character has his detractors, we certainly are not one of them. Negan has injected new life into The Walking Dead, and we are grateful for it.

Jeffrey Dean Morgan seems born to play the character, and brings a perfect mix of mania and charisma to bear on one of comics all time greatest villains. Unlike other villains on the show, our heroes actually feared Negan upon first meeting him, and who could blame them? Negan’s brutality puts all previous villains on the show to shame, and we love watching him strike at random among our survivors.

Negan’s comic book fate is out there for those wanting to spoil it for themselves, but it should be noted that the show has happily deviated from the source material on many an occasion. If it were up to us, Negan would be granted his own spinoff prequel series. We could watch Jeffrey Dean Morgan carve out his own little post apocalyptic kingdom for years to come. Negan is easily the best villain to appear on The Walking Dead, and belongs among the Mount Rushmore of television villains.
