The Walking Dead: 5 reasons Negan is the best thing on the show

5. Lucille

Many of our favorite characters on The Walking Dead have iconic weapons that have come to symbolize their character. From Michone’s katana to Rick’s Colt Python to Daryl’s crossbow, unique weapons play a huge role on the show. And thus, the show’s greatest villain needed a weapon just as iconic. Enter Lucille, the barb wire wrapped baseball bat.

Lucille fits Negan’s character perfectly. Consider that an ordinary baseball is turned into a fear inspiring weapon with the addition of the barbed wire. Likewise, Negan is a physically unremarkable man, but is a force to be reckoned with due to his cult of personality. Lucille and Negan make a perfect pair.

And of all the weapons on The Walking Dead, Lucille is the only one who almost seems to have a personality thanks to Negan’s constant insistence on talking to, and caring for the baseball bat. Lucille is not just a tool for Negan, but rather a companion. Negan’s reaction to Rosita’s “wounding” of Lucille with Eugene’s bullet was a perfect example of their relationship, as Negan reacted as if a loved one had been injured rather than just a tool.

Should Negan ever perish, Lucille would make an incredible trophy to hang on the wall of whoever does the deed. Negan might go the way of many of the show’s other villains, but we hope Lucille sticks around.
