3. Negan has rules
OK, hear us out. We aren’t saying we agree with all of his rules, or even that those rules don’t heavily favor the Savior’s leader, but we begrudgingly (or maybe not so begrudgingly) give Negan a nod of respect for bringing some order to his little corner of the zombie apocalypse.
Whether its his rule against rape (murderously against) or his system of indentured servitude that keeps the masses of Saviors in line, Negan is not a man without principles. Yes, those rules tend to favor him, and yes the punishment for breaking many of the rules tends to be a quick and violent death, but not everyone can be King Ezekiel. The zombie wasteland is a place where only the strong survive, and Negan is just the most extreme example of this.
Negan has established order in the midst of chaos, and brought security to his followers; as long as they follow the rules. Luxuries exist under Negan like beer, and as we just learned, iPods. That’s no small feat in the wasteland that is the world our survivors exist in. A smidge of respect is in order.
And hey, at least he isn’t keeping his zombified daughter in the closet. Or floating zombie heads in fish tanks. Looking at you Governor.
