This is the newest Game of Thrones theory and it’s pretty wild

The latest Game of Thrones theory involves Jon Snow being a reincarnated prophet sent to save Westeros — and Kit Harington has weighed in.

If we had a dime for every Game of Thrones theory that popped up, we’d all be rich. The L+R=J theories dominated message boards for years until it was finally confirmed in the season finale last year.

Now that we have had that massive, time consuming theory sorted out, it’s time to find another one to chew on. I’m no Game of Thrones wizard, so I’m not up to snuff on this theory but I think basic understanding is in place.

The latest theory states that Jon Snow is the reincarnated soul of Azor Ahai, who was a prophet that battled and defeated darkness. That sounds an awful lot like the path that Jon has been set on. When looking at the series through this prism, there are hints and clues along the way to suggest this might be the case.

Correlation doesn’t always imply causation, though.

While he played coy about the idea that Jon Snow is this reincarnated prophet, actor Kit Harington noted that Jon probably wouldn’t be a fan of the whole idea.

"“I think Jon would hate the term ‘The Prince That Was Promised.’ If someone turned to him and said, ‘You’re The Prince That Was Promised,’ he just wouldn’t pay much attention,” Harington told HuffPost. “That’s what I love about him, so I don’t really care about it either. You know, I think that’s what’s great about him. He’s got very little ego on him.”"

He neither confirmed nor denied the idea that Snow is reincarnated, but the fact that he died and saw nothing seems to suggest that it’s possible. His soul didn’t go to some happy place into sky, it went nowhere, which means it no longer belonged to him.

This is a wild theory that makes sense when you think about it but we won’t have confirmation for sometime. It does, however, give us things to look for when Game of Thrones returns in July with new episodes.
