American Gods season 1, episode 2 predictions: ‘Secrets of the Spoons’

5. Mr. Wednesday isn’t a god, but he’s not human either.

The first clue we noticed is his eyes; one’s light green the other is dark blue showing that he’s a mix of something. So we think that Wednesday’s caught in the middle of both sides of this battle as a half human, half god.

Wednesday’s job in this war could be to prepare the old gods for a fight in the human realm, he seems to be more friendlier with them since Technical Boy (Bruce Langley) did not show any respect for him when he sucked Shadow into his trippy world.

Wednesday also seems to know the human world quite well, he blends in while the other gods are either hiding in their own worlds like Tech Boy or performing crazy magic tricks like Sweeney and sticking out like a sore thumb.

6. Or Mr. Wednesday is half an old god, half new god.

Again, since his eyes are two starkly different colors, we have a feeling he’s playing both sides in this battle somehow. Wednesday’s character is tricky to pin down this first episode.

He’s cunning, he seems to know his way around the modern human world, yet there’s something about him that seems ancient. We think that Wednesday might be a hybrid of the two kinds of gods because both sides know how he operates: Tech Boy seems to know him well and, obviously he and Sweeney are friendly.

The question is though what side is Wednesday really on? The old gods? The new? Or neither? Maybe he’s on the side of humanity and that’s why he recruits Shadow into this mess, to add a human element to the madness.
