Is Glenn Howerton Finished with Always Sunny?
Cloudy skies are making their way to Philadelphia with the latest news that star Glenn Howerton might not be returning to the show.
With news that It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia star, writer and executive producer Glenn Howerton’s new comedy A.P. Bio was picked up by NBC, there’s a good chance that Howerton won’t be returning to Philadelphia anytime soon according to UPROXX.
Howerton, who plays Dennis in Always Sunny, made a huge moral milestone at the end of last season in “Dennis’ Double Life” when it was revealed that he actually has a son, Brain Jr. (SPOILERS) At the end of the episode he decides to leave Philadelphia and the never-ending antics of Patty’s Pub behind to be with his other family who lives in South Dakota.
The finale left it unclear of whether or not Dennis would actually leave or if he would ever come back to Patty’s, but with this latest news it’s looking unlikely.
According to Variety, A.P. Bio is the first comedy for 2017-2018 for NBC from writer Mike O’Brien and executive producers Seth Meyers and Lorne Michaels with the following series description:
"“A.P. Bio” is about a philosophy scholar (Howerton) who loses out on his dream job and goes to work as a high school Advanced Placement biology teacher, but he makes it clear he will not be teaching any biology. Realizing he has a room full of honor roll students at his disposal, he decides instead to use the kids to his own benefit."
So how will this effect Always Sunny? Well, with Howerton potentially leaving the show and Sweet Dee actress Kaitlyn Olsen already starring in her own hit sit-com The Mick on FOX, Always Sunny could be seeing some cloudy days. According to and interview with Olsen on TV Guide, the thirteenth season has been pushed back a year due to the cast member’s conflicting projects.
