King Henry faces off against the alleged Prince Richard as war spreads to England in “The White Princess” episode ‘English Blood on English Soil.’

Henry VII will face the biggest challenge to his reign yet in episode 6 of The White Princess. While the king’s army easily dismantled the Burgundy forces led by a peasant boy posing as Teddy Plantagenet in “The Pretender,” he’ll now have to go up against an attempted invasion of England, ending seven years of peace throughout his kingdom.

In “Traitors,” Henry’s paranoia understandably reached new heights as he discovered that various nobles in his vicinity had been plotting against him and pledging fealty to the other side. Margaret of Burgundy has worked tirelessly to gather allies to the York cause using “The Boy,” the young man alleging to be Richard, the York prince who was seen escaping the Tower of London in the first episode.

Whether his identity is accurate or not seems irrelevant to the Duchess, who’s already set to marry him off to a cousin of King James IV of Scotland as a way to secure an alliance between the two lands. While Henry, Lizzie and their council quickly dismiss Scotland as a “poor country,” they seem set on creating a strong alliance with Spain, visiting Ferdinand and Isabella in the next new episode.

Here’s the official synopsis for episode 6, entitled, ‘English Blood on English Soil’:

"“King Henry VII and Lizzie travel to Spain in an attempt to secure their son’s betrothal; growing unrest in Burgundy spills over into an English battle.”"

The promo for the installment confirms that Henry will be entering a battle to defend his throne once more. But first, he has some executions to attend to, including the beheading of his stepfather’s brother, Sir William Stanley, who shows no remorse for his actions before he’s put to death, shouting, “England rots beneath you.”

The clip also shows Lizzie and Henry bowing before Ferdinand and Isabella during a trip to Spain to help secure their alliance. It was mentioned in a prior episode that their eldest son, Arthur, will be betrothed to the royal couple’s daughter, Catherine of Aragon.

Lizzie is shown both advising and accompanying her husband throughout the preview, solidifying her position as his most influential councilor in light of his Uncle Jasper’s death at the hand of his mother. However, her brother’s supposed reappearance and her mother’s continued transgressions are likely to continue to test their relationship going forward.

The White Princess episode 6 airs Sunday, May 21 at 8 p.m. ET on Starz.
