4) We’ve seen the last of Jaqen H’ghar (and Daario Naharis)
Fans are on the fence as to whether Jaqen H’ghar genuinely wanted Arya Stark to become a Faceless Man, if he was trying to push her to leave or if he was grooming her for another, unknown purpose all along. Regardless, he didn’t seem to mind when Arya reclaimed her sense of self and left him in the House of Black and White, bereft of employees and with one hell of a bloody mess to clean up. Will he come after her and punish her for her actions? Unlikely.
The idea that a Faceless Man can be No One seems dubious at best, as being No One requires the individual to become a blank slate. The Waif couldn’t do this, as she became preoccupied with her hatred (and jealousy) of Arya, and it’s likely that Jaqen could either. After all, he seemed to care about his young charge, and Faceless Men aren’t supposed to feel such attachments. My belief is that he always intended for Arya to go back home, albeit with the skills she needed to keep herself safe, and that there is no need for him to follow her there. Whatever Arya’s final purpose is, Jaqen’s role was to mentor her, hone her skills, and assist her in a journey of self-discovery. He’s fulfilled that purpose, and so his time on Game of Thrones appears to be done.
From one face-changer to another, Daario ‘Dear John’ Naharis was well and truly dumped by Daenerys in the season 6 finale and has been left to safeguard the re-liberated cities of Slaver’s Bay while she attempts to take Westeros. With only thirteen episodes left until the show ends forever, it’s not likely that we’ll ever see her return. Farewell, old pal.
