29) Bran Stark will revisit the White Walkers in a vision, with less dire consequences

On the surface, the White Walkers seem to be a mindless force of evil, hell-bent on destruction and widespread frostbite. That’s certainly true of the wights they create, but on-screen evidence suggests that the Night King and his generals are more than capable of intelligent thought. After all, the wildling Craster was once able to make a deal with the White Walkers that allowed him to exchange his newborn sons for personal safety, so it seems likely that the White Walkers have something akin to human consciousness.

With that in mind, why did the Night King send an entire army after Brandon Stark — a solitary, immobilized, sleeping teenager? Was it simply a showrunner decision to ensure maximum drama, or could the Night King be frightened of Bran — or what Bran can do, at the very least?

The youngest living Stark possesses extraordinary supernatural powers. Not only can he warg into animals and people alike, his head contains a streaming service like no other — a magical Netflix that can tune into any show. With Bran discovering the truth of Jon Snow’s parentage in season 6, we’ve only just started to scratch the surface of what he can bring to the table.

So what are the White Walkers hiding? What further knowledge could be gleaned from an examination of their past and present? What is Bran on the verge of uncovering and how will it help the side of the living when the final battle begins? It seems extremely likely that Bran’s continued efforts to master his power will allow him to uncover a chink in the Night King’s seemingly impenetrable armor.
