27) Edmure Tully will reclaim Riverrun

This prediction really hinges on the theory that Arya will eviscerate House Frey. For the sake of argument, let’s assume that she does just that. What’s next on her to-do list?

As we saw in the season 6 finale, Arya was hanging around at the Twins disguised as a serving wench before she did away with Lord Frey. Servants are often the keepers of gossip — not being important enough to garner notice from the idle rich, they possess the ability to hear and see things virtually undetected, and tongues tend to loosen when alcohol is involved.  With this in mind, it seems very likely that Arya has already learned of her uncle’s imprisonment in Walder Frey’s dungeon. She may even have seen him for herself.

Setting her penchant for murder aside, Arya Stark is a pretty decent kid at heart. She rescued Jaqen H’ghar and his vicious cellmates when the wagon they were locked in was set alight. She refused to kill Lady Crane because she had not done anything to deserve death. She champions her friends and sticks up for them, even after they’re dead and gone. It’s not a stretch to believe that she’d free her uncle and allow him to return to Riverrun.

As Tullys go, Edmure was the least competent of the bunch, but he has ensured that his family name will continue by siring a son, and the Starks need all the allies they can get right now. With her mother’s brother installed in Riverrun and indebted to her, Arya could ensure that alliance continues for decades to come. Whether the Tully army will forgive Edmure for ceding the castle is another question altogether….
