30 Predictions for Game of Thrones Season 7

26) Hodor and Summer will return… as members of the Night King’s army
Watching Hodor and Summer perish at the hands of the Night King’s army, whilst simultaneously learning the truth of Hodor’s origins, was one of the most genuinely heartbreaking moments in the show’s six-year history. If the television gods are listening, I’d like to formally request that direwolf deaths be given a permanent ban. My heart just can’t take it.
Hodor was brought to life on our screens by the excellent Kristian Nairn, who was arguably one of the most popular members of the Thrones family among fans. While we’re all sad to see him leave, it seems hard to believe that we’ll never see the iconic stable boy on our screens again.
We saw in “Hardhome” that the Night King resurrects his victims and adds them to his own numbers, and I’ve also mentioned that he appears to understand the way the human mind works. This isn’t surprising. After all, he was human once, and the way in which he coldly taunted Jon — as he and a small number of survivors sailed away from the massacre — indicated that he’s not averse to a bit of mental torture. A physical attack is not always the best way to hurt one’s enemy.
Keeping this in mind, it’s unlikely that a resurrected Hodor and Summer will be pushed to the back of the Night King’s army. He’s sure to position them front and center – not just because a fully compliant Hodor and Summer would make excellent additions to any army – but because it would hurt Bran immeasurably to see them as undead monsters. Tissues at the ready.
