30 Predictions for Game of Thrones Season 7

24) Gendry will return and be legitimized as a Baratheon
We last saw the unluckiest blacksmith in Westeros in season 3, when Davos Seaworth helped him to escape from Dragonstone and Melisandre’s clutches. Since then, popular consensus is that he’s been rowing aimlessly around Westeros, with arms like Popeye and a heart that burns with love for Arya Stark. That last part was my own personal fantasy, please excuse me.
After the sixth season brought back Benjen Stark, the Freys, Edmure Tully and the Blackfish, and in doing so proved to the doubters that Game of Thrones does not abandon character arcs, merely delays them when suitable, fans (me) were more than a little put out to see that Gendry remained AWOL. If you ask me, now is the perfect moment for Gendry’s reappearance.
With House Baratheon dead, the Stormlands are without a liege lord, and an outsider like Daenerys Targaryen will want all the support she can get if she wishes to take the throne. Though Robert Baratheon ignited a rivalry between the two great families and killed Dany’s brother Rhaegar, Gendry is not his father, and Dany is not hers. If Tyrion Lannister convinces Daenerys to form an alliance with the Stormlands, it’s possible that Robert’s last living son could be legitimized for that purpose, and handed Storm’s End into the bargain.
Plus, if he needs a highborn wife, we know one scrappy she-wolf who’d be more than suitable.
