5 questions we need answered from the Game of Thrones season 7 trailer
By Corey Smith
2. Is Melisandre on Dragonstone?
When last we saw Melisandre, she was banished to the south by Jon Snow for murdering Shireen Baratheon. Jon promised upon penalty of death that Melisandre must never return to the North. The question on many a mind, was where might she go? Well, it appears we have our answer, and that answer is Dragonstone.
Dragonstone might seem a bit out of left field, but consider Dragonstone was the first place Melisandre appeared in Westeros, serving Stannis Baratheon. Unlike anywhere else in Westeros, Melisandre knows the island of Dragonstone, and if it was abandoned by Stannis, she could set up shop there and not likely be bothered. At least until Daenerys arrives.
Even more interesting, is the question of what happens when Jon Snow and Ser Davos show up? Spoilers have led us to believe this meeting will happen, and it would be quite the awkward reunion. Jon promised to execute Melisandre if she returned to the North, but Dragonstone is not in the North. Technicality?
Something else to consider, is whether or not Melisandre is on Dragonstone with Dany’s permission, or just hiding out on the side of some mountain? Melisandre doesn’t look like she is roughing it in a cave, so that means she’s there with Dany’s blessing. Which raises all kinds of questions about a potential Jon/Dany alliance.
