5 things we learned from the Game of Thrones season 7 trailer

“If we don’t put aside our enmities and band together, we will die. It doesn’t matter whose skeleton sits on the Iron Throne.”

Davos (Liam Cunningham) always speaks the truth when it comes to Game of Thrones promos delivering badass line after badass line and it’s absolutely true: the dead is coming and it’s not going to matter who sits on the Iron Throne when the Night King lays waste to Westeros.

So who is Davos talking to in the trailer? We know that Jon Snow is on board with stopping the dead from rising, but everyone in the south (including our new Queen Cersei) still thinks that white walkers are nothing but children’s tales.

Dany, on the other hand, has no reason to doubt Jon and Davos’ quest to save Westeros, she has dragons, a living embodiment of magic existing, but could the race for the crown be too big of a prize for the dragon queen to give up even if it means saving the people of Westeros?

5. The Dead are Officially here

“The Great War is here.”

Jon’s been saying it in promos for the past couple of months now: The Great War is here. Like really, really here this time, but interestingly enough the last shot of the trailer isn’t of white walkers invading.

In fact, we don’t get a clear glimpse of one white walker throughout the entire trailer. Instead, we get a truly epic shot of Dany riding on a dragon with her army charging into battle in a not-so-snowy environment. So this begs the question: what is the Great War and who will it be between? We always thought that the Great War was between the living and the dead, but could it also be between Dany and Cersei? Jon and Cersei? Jon and Dany?

The trailer leaves a lot to the imagination, and we can’t wait to watch this war play out when Game of Thrones returns July 16 on HBO.

And of course there’s so much more that we left out like the creepy dead hand sticking out of a window:

Yara and Ellaria making out:

Arya Stark very up north trying to survive:

The huge floor map of Westeros in the Red Keep:

And Melisandre at Dragonstone:
