50. Montana — The Mountain

While we would like to pretend that we didn’t choose The Mountain for Montana simply because Montana translated from Spanish literally means “mountain” that would be a lie. In our defense though, no other state is literally the same name as a character from Game of Thrones.

If you insist on more reasons, how about this very deep and insightful reason; Montana is big, and so is the Mountain. Also, it has lots of mountains, Montana does. Getting serious for a second though, Montana would be the perfect spot to stash the Mountain. The Mountain is an anti-social homicidal lunatic, and while the people of Montana may not appreciate his presence, the rest of the United States would certainly enjoy having him stashed away up north.

As the fourth largest state in the Union, Montana would provide ample room for the Mountain to roam. Given the Mountain’s propensity to murder those that look at him the wrong way, Montana seems like a natural spot to stick him until he’s needed.

The Mountain can spend his days roaming the wide open plains and mountainsides of Montana, far from large population centers. Also, did we mention Montana means mountain? (We promise the rest of the states make more sense.)
