32. Wyoming — Ygritte
Like her fellow wildling Tormund hails from north of the wide and often empty expanses north of the Wall. A fiercely independent woman, Ygritte tragically fell in love with our hero, Jon Snow. At home in the wilds north of the Wall, Ygritte never shows fear, even in the face of such a climb as the Wall itself. Ygritte would logically represent a state equally as wild and open, of which Wyoming is exactly that.
Admitted to the Union as the 44th state, Wyoming is one of our countries largest states, while also being its least populated. Likewise for Ygritte’s homeland in the wilds north of the Wall, despite being vast in size, it has the least dense population of anywhere in the Seven Kingdoms, except perhaps the actual North. Also just like Ygritte’s home, Wyoming is teeming with mountain ranges. Ygritte was a wild and free woman as well, some might say a cowboy even. Which of course, just so happens to be Wyoming’s nickname “the Cowboy State”.
Then there’s Wyoming’s state motto the “Equality State”. The wildlings, and Ygritte in particular believed in equality for women and men. Ygritte was always willing, and more importantly able, to voice her opinion on any matter she pleased. Equality indeed.
