We need a Game of Thrones style Star Wars television show

A TELEVISION SERIES COULD TELL A NEW KIND OF STAR WARS STORY

Obi-Wan said that “only a Sith deals in absolutes,” but that’s just Jedi propaganda. The Sith by nature are more flexible than the Jedi actually. The Jedi have strict rules, where the Sith allow their emotions to run free.

Just like the Sith are freer than the Jedi, television is freer than film. With a television show, you can really dive into a universe in a much deeper way. You can create a much more layered and nuanced world in ten ninety-minute episodes than you can in one two hour movie.

This new depth would not only open up the world of the Sith but would open up the world of the Star Wars universe. Star Wars is already a gigantic and deep fantasy universe, but with this kind of time, you could really take it to whole new places. Instead of just getting a few minutes on a new planet and seeing just part of a new world you could have whole episodes on these worlds.

You could explore worlds the way Game of Thrones has explored the different cities of Westeros. Instead of just having a snow or desert world you could focus more on the culture of the world and use that instead of the environment to create its character. Just try to stay away from galactic trade law.
