Anyone who has watched the spectacular trailers for season 7 knows, there are going to be quite a few battles this year. While on set during filming, D’addario was able to witness one, in particular, involving Jon Snow filming in Belfast,

"a frigid North Atlantic wind that whipped everyone during filming, and a line of wights waiting to grab breakfast burritos. Thrones has been promising this clash all along, and when the time comes, the Internet will melt."

That’s almost certainly Jon’s expedition north of the Wall alongside members of the Brotherhood Without Banners we’ve seen so much of in the trailers. Special effects supervisor Joe Bauer also touched on the battles of season 7,

"At first we had a season with one big event. [T]hen we had a season with two big events, now we have a season where every episode is a big event."

Be still my beating heart. Season 7 looks to be quite the roller coaster if cast and crew can be believed. D’addario did note one particular ‘problem’ on set concerning the scion of House Stark; the direwolf. Of course, direwolves do not exist in our world, so actual wolves have been used as stand-ins, and then enlarged later via CGI. In season 7 though, the wolves that were to be used were “fluffy and lustrous” when they were supposed to be “skinny and mangy.” #FirstWorldProblems

Having long since passed the novels by George R.R. Martin on which Game of Thrones is based, showrunners David Benioff and Dan Weiss have been working off notes given to the two by Martin “[b]etween seasons 2 and 3,”

"Certain things that we learned from George way back then are going to happen on the show, but certain things won’t. And there’s certain things where George didn’t know what was going to happen, so we’re going to find them out for the first time too."

Surely Benioff is not simply referring to Martin’s well-known predilection for describing every meal every character consumes in excruciating detail, but until we receive The Winds of Winter, who knows.

Either way, the moment you have all been waiting for; when exactly will season 8, the show’s final six episodes, air? According to Benioff and Weiss, the duo has season 8 in “outline form,” including “what happens in each scene.” Not exactly giving us much to work with there, but either way, the pair are focused on completing the series, no matter the pressure.

"The best way to go about it is to focus on what’s on the desk in front of you, or what sword is being put in front of you, or the fight that is being choreographed in front of you."

We certainly wish the pair, along with the rest of the cast and crew the very best. Game of Thrones season 7 premieres on July 16.
