25 books that need to be adapted for TV right now

20. Fables
Sadly, the shows Grimm and Once Upon a Time might have ruined this possibility, but the Vertigo comic series Fables is something that is perfect for premium television. Interestingly, NBC was looking at developing a Fables television show back in 2005 but chose to make Grimm instead.
In 2008, ABC was planning to adapt it but made Once Upon a Time instead. It seems that both networks took things that were great about Fables and made something different instead.
Fables is about characters from classic fairy tales and folklore who formed their own community in New York City called Fabletown. Unlike Once Upon a Time, these characters know fully well that they are classic characters from fables but they are in hiding in the real world after The Adversary attacked and conquered their Homelands.
These characters are amazingly created as well, with the Big Bad Wolf realized as Bigby Wolf, a sheriff, and Snow White taking on the role as the deputy mayor. There is also The Farm, which is in upstate New York, where the non-human fables live.
The comics won numerous awards throughout its 150-issue run and is a perfect series to skip out on network television, especially after the past struggles there, and head straight to Starz or AMC, both of which could be a perfect home for a brand-new fairy tale series.
