4. Percy Jackson series

There have already been two movies based on the world of Percy Jackson, and while the second was much better than the first movie when it comes to remaining loyal to the books, neither was successful enough to continue on. With that said, the idea of bringing Rick Riordan’s books to the small screen seems like the better bet. Neil Gaiman’s American Gods proves a television show based on old Gods in today’s world can work as an adaptation for TV.

The Percy Jackson series would be geared more towards younger audiences, with the Harry Potter-styled setting of young Demigods being trained on how to use their powers while their immensely powerful parents remain holed up in Olympus. The best thing about a Percy Jackson television series is that they can take the ideas from the Olympians series and play around with other books in this world, including the Heroes of Olympus, Trials of Apollo, and Camp Half-Blood chronicles, giving the television show a lot of fun stories to mine from.

Since this is more of a teen and young adult television series, the landing spots are a little different than others. There is always a chance this could work on something like The CW, especially with shows like Vampire Diaries and The Originals ending. Freeform is another great option, depending on how the upcoming Cloak and Dagger does or even something like Hulu if The Runaways is a success.
