Episode 704 saw Dany finally snap, as her Dothraki Horde spectacularly rode through the Lannister army like a hot knife through butter. But what hammered the ending home was the Mother of Dragons actually riding one of her dragons — Drogon — as the two absolutely wreaked havoc in what we’re calling “The Field of Fire 2.0.”

Emilia Clark as Daenerys Targaryen and a Dragon
Let’s set up the final scene:
- Dany and her Dothraki attack the Lannister forces led by Jaime Lannister, Bronn, Randyl and Dickon Tarly.
- As expected, Drogon’s dragon flame blasts massive holes in the Lannister lines, allowing the Dothraki to ride through with wild abandon.
- The plains are literally turned into a field of fire as Dany and Drogon lay waste to their enemies.
- Bronn is able to wound Drogon with a bolt from the weapon created by Qyburn.
- However, Dany is able to regain control and Drogon lands next to the Blackwater Rush.
- Dany hops off Drogon and attempts to wrench the bolt from Drogon’s shoulder.
- Jaime sees Daenerys on the ground, vulnerable to attack, and grabbing a spear, he kicks his horse into a valiant (or very stupid according to Tyrion who is watching from a hill) charge toward the Queen of Dragonstone, hoping to end the war right then and there.
- As he nears, Dany unflinchingly turns to face him, but so too does Drogon, and the giant dragon looses dragon fire upon Jaime.
- Lucky (or not) for Jaime, Bronn rushes to his friend’s side and slams into him knocking them both from their horses and into the deep water.
- Our final scene, before the camera fades to black, is Jaime Lannister, in full armor, slowly sinking to the bottom of the river.
So, have we seen the last of Jaime Lannister on Game of Thrones? We don’t know, but a one-handed man in full armor sinking to the bottom of what appears to be a deep river, and when that missing hand has been replaced with a heavy golden one, seems to spell certain doom for the Kingslayer.
If Jaime is indeed dead, then Cersei will have suffered an even larger loss than the soldiers and supplies trying to re-enter King’s Landing. She will have lost her army’s commander, brother, and disturbingly, her lover.
